About Ian Brooks

I think the best thing to do is start off by putting in a disclaimer…I’m not an author. Hopefully I will be one day. For me, an author is someone who has something published. As of now, I’m a writer and a failed one at that. But that’s ok, it isn’t discouraging. I think the best way to describe it would be through Toy Story. At one point Woodie says to Buzz, “Hey, Buzz. You’re flying!” and Buzz replies, “This isn’t flying, this is falling with style”. So that’s me at the moment, falling with style until I learn how to fly.

I was born in 1993 and have lived most of my life in a small town called Clonakilty nestled into a corner of West Cork, Ireland. As a child I was pretty quiet, preferring to read books, play with LEGO and do jigsaws rather than go out with friends. I tried my hand at quite a few sports though, and in some cases am still trying, ranging from golf to badminton to squash.

After leaving school, I attended University College Dublin studying English and Classics. I graduated from there in May 2015 and completed a Masters in Classics with a focus on Ancient Greek literature and mythology in September 2016. Exciting, huh?

What does the future hold? There are a lot of things I want to do, chief amongst them, and certainly the goal at the moment, to write. As for the rest, they’ll take a backseat until I find my feet and I’m sure my dreams and goals will grow and change over time.

That’s just a very short biography of me. (Not the most thrilling topic I’ll admit but if I’ve kept you reading this far then hopefully you’re interested and I can get you to read some more!) If you would like to read a longer version of my trials and tribulations as a writer, then click here.
